In November of 2008, when visiting the village, Terry and Sandy Kensler from CLOUT Cares discovered that poor eyesight was hindering many widows who wanted to learn to sew.

With the assistance of Rajinder "Pape" Sembi of the Kakamega Lions Club and Dr. Demissie Tadesse of the Sabatia Eye Hospital and its mobile eye clinic, CLOUT Cares obtained eye exams, glasses, medication, and cataract surgery for the widows and anybody else in the village in need of these services - all at no cost to them.

We thank the Lions and the Sabatia Eye Hospital for their help.  This small act made possible by people like you willing to help those in need brought the widows and others one step closer to the self-sufficiency they enjoyed before AIDS took it away.
